This fall, we're launching new events as part of the "Communities: Literature as a Tool for Locality" project. Together with the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław and the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Center, we invite you to workshops, thematic lessons, performative readings, and an author meeting with Filip Springer.

Communities is a partnership project in which books serve as a starting point for conversations about local memory, the history of places, and the experiences of Wrocław's residents. We combine the expertise of libraries, community centers, and social organizations to create events near you. We focus on a variety of formats—author meetings, workshops, shared readings, and conversations—because not everyone enjoys engaging with books in the same way. We want to show that literature can help us meet people, discover local stories, and better understand the places we live in.

We will publish detailed information about individual events, times, and registration as they become available. Participation in all Community events is free.

We are connecting different parts of the city – Community events will take place in selected branches of the Municipal Public Library:

  • in branch no. 29 at 1 Reja Street (Plac Grunwaldzki housing estate),
  • in branch no. 22 at Chociebuska Street 8-10 (Nowy Dwór housing estate).

Communities is a continuation of a project initiated in 2025 by the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław, which we implemented in partnership with the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Center. The first edition allowed us to test various ways of combining literature with locality, memory, and neighborhood activities, and above all, to build cooperation between three organizations and institutions operating close to local communities.

In 2026, we are developing this model: we are expanding the program, building on the experience of the first edition, and together we are creating further activities that show that a book can be a good starting point for learning about a place, its history, and the people who create it.

The project "Communities: literature as a tool of locality" is implemented by Fundacja Ładne HistorieTadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław and Nowy Pafawag Cultural Center.

The project "Communities: literature as a tool of locality" was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund.
