Step by step, we're implementing the Mountains (Connecting Us) project! In May, it's time for WORKSHOPS for parents and guardians of the National Day of Learning!
The workshops will be held on-site in Center for Non-Governmental Organizations Rynek 39/40, Swidnica from May 24th, and will be led by Kamila Skrobek – a certified trainer, coach, hypnotherapist, NLP master, and event manager, a resident of Świdnica and mother of three. Kamila is an example of how you can overcome the biggest problems and fulfill your dreams! Her motto is "As long as you live, everything is good.".

What workshops have we prepared for you?
- WEDNESDAY 24/05/2023.
How to notice unsupportive emotional habits, beliefs, and thoughts and change them to work to our advantage. This topic is crucial for our emotional and mental health. We can have many unsupportive emotional habits, beliefs, and thoughts that hinder our lives and cause stress, anxiety, or depression. Therefore, it's important to pay attention to our emotions and thoughts and how they impact our daily lives.
For parents of children with disabilities, this topic is particularly important, as they may experience many difficult emotions and thoughts. They may feel overwhelmed, discouraged, uncertain, or helpless, which can impact their daily functioning and relationships with their child.
- WEDNESDAY 31/05/2023.
How to improve your communication effectiveness, understand subtle meanings, and better interpret nonverbal cues. Ways to communicate effectively and empathetically, and methods for building trust and positive relationships.Improving the effectiveness of communication with the environment and with a child with a disability will allow you to understand the subtle meanings of statements and the ability to read non-verbal signals, which can help you better understand the child's needs and improve communication between them.
- WEDNESDAY 14/06/2023.
Self-advocacy – challenges and solutions related to it.Parents of children with disabilities must navigate various procedures and formalities, which can be difficult and time-consuming, especially if they lack sufficient knowledge or experience. Through self-advocacy workshops, parents can learn several important skills that will help them effectively navigate government agencies:
- Needs assessment – the ability to understand your own needs and those of your child in the context of using services and benefits. This will allow you to more effectively formulate questions, conversations, and requests with public institutions.
- Searching for solutions together – that is, the ability to find solutions to problems parents and their children face. Office workers often lack the time or expertise to provide effective assistance. Searching for solutions together can help identify the best course of action.
- Ready-made speech scripts – ready-made speech templates that can be useful in various life situations. This will allow parents to effectively express their needs and expectations in conversations with office workers.
The most important benefit of this approach is increasing parents' confidence and skills in situations involving government agencies. The ability to communicate effectively with government officials, doctors, and other healthcare personnel, understanding their rights and needs, and proactively seeking solutions are key to obtaining the best care and support for their child.
