The "Nasz Grunwald" Partnership is an informal initiative group whose goal is cross-sectoral collaboration to improve the quality of life at Grunwaldzki Square in Wrocław. The partnership is made up of individuals who prioritize the estate's affairs and work daily on behalf of its residents – our neighbors. We represent non-governmental organizations, public institutions, academia, private sector entities, and grassroots social initiatives. We combine our expertise and resources to strengthen the estate's brand at the city level, build lasting and valuable bonds within the local community, and promote neighborhood spirit and local identity. We believe that Plac Grunwaldzki is a unique place in Wrocław, which is why we have decided to join forces to develop it.
One of the main initiatives we have created together is Święto Osiedla Plac Grunwaldzki – the first edition of this unique event took place in 2021 as a response to the need we identified for the integration of residents of the estate, whose neighborly relations have significantly deteriorated as a result of the pandemic and the related restrictions.
Święto Osiedla is an opportunity for the local community to spend their free time together in a creative way, learn about their immediate neighborhood—its history, culture, and often forgotten backyard stories—and build a sense of local identity. The series of events, aimed at people living, studying, or working in Grunwaldzki Square, includes guided walks, workshops, and activities in the backyards, as well as a neighborhood picnic with a wide range of attractions for people of all ages.
Another initiative resulting from our collaboration is Nauczycielska 8/4 – a work and meeting space we created for people who came to Wrocław from Ukraine following the outbreak of war. Our goal is to create a place on the housing estate map that serves the Ukrainian community – helping them become familiar with what Wrocław has to offer, and above all, being a dynamically evolving space whose program is tailored to the identified needs of our audiences.
Nauczycielska 8/4 was created courtesy of Pathway, an IT company that provides its space for activities for people from Ukraine. The space operators are Fundacja Ładne Historie, Fundacja Fabryka Sensu, and Soroptimist International Club Vratislavia.
The local partnership is a living organism whose members remain in constant contact with each other. In addition to regular monthly meetings during which we discuss the most important issues for the estate (since our informal group was formed, more than a dozen partnership meetings have already been held), our group operates as a local support network and a cooperative of sorts. Whenever one of the entities active in the estate requires logistical, equipment, or production support, they can count on immediate assistance. Collaboration within this group facilitates each of us in implementing the daily tasks and project activities we address to the local community.
