What does Plac Grunwaldzki sound like? Is this neighborhood just the hustle and bustle of trams and the hum of the streets? Or perhaps we'll also find the peace, quiet, and everyday sounds that make up the unique identity of this part of Wrocław? "Sounds of Grunwald Square" is a project in which we'll work with you to find answers to these questions. The pilot will include three events that will allow you to immerse yourself in the surrounding space and experience Grunwald as a neighborhood with its own rhythm, sound, and energy. It's also an opportunity to experience music in a completely different way—outside clubs, outside institutions, outside large festivals, in public spaces.

We are implementing the project in close cooperation with Academic Radio LUZ i Wrocław University of Science and Technology. We were united by our curiosity about the soundscape of Grunwaldzki Square and a shared desire to organize an open sound event that would connect the local community with students, who spend their time in Grunwald primarily studying there. We want to prove that our neighborhood is a good place for sound projects, and that the campus spaces are an ideal location for musical activities. We also know from you, residents of the surrounding neighborhoods, that you want more events like this in Grunwald.

Who is this project for? For each and every one of you. We invite both residents of Grunwald and people from other Wrocław neighborhoods. Do you simply want to listen and immerse yourself in ambient sounds? Or perhaps you'd like to walk with us through the neighborhood and see what it sounds like to you? Casual, relaxed, and soothing? We're creating these events with you in mind!

We're refreshing the format of neighborhood walks! We're weaving a new twist onto the well-proven formats of walks exploring architecture, identity, and nature: two sound walks. Both will take place in the first week of June. These will be shared walks during which, instead of focusing on what we see, we'll pay attention to what we hear around us—for example, street sounds, people's voices, nature, and the sounds of the city. With the help of a guide, we'll learn how to listen carefully and recognize different elements of our soundscape. Taking part in the walks requires no preparation—just come and be open to new experiences.

REGISTRATION FOR WALKS WILL BE OPENING SOON!

As part of the "Sounds of Grunwaldzki Square" in July, we will also invite you to a unique musical event. Ambient and experimental sets prepared by collective late and the LUZ Academic Radio team. More information about the location and date of this unique event coming soon!

For now, a slight program spoiler, i.e. who we will listen to during this event:

Late is an audiovisual collective specializing in organizing intimate ambient events that engage all the senses. Through their activities, they strive to blur the lines between concerts, club sets, and artistic performances, creating an atmosphere that allows for the free experience of all sensibilities without strictly imposed rules. The collective comprises DJs, music producers, visual artists, promoters, and VJs. Each Late event is closely linked to a specific concept, and its expression reaches all the senses. The conceptual foundation is music exploring deep, ambient, and experimental sounds, as well as visuals metaphorically linked to the theme. Event venues feature carefully selected colors and lighting. The spaces feature decorations and installations, and the air is filled with a scent specially composed for the event. Through their activities, Late strives to encourage a shift in approach to music experiences and spending free time both in company and in connection with oneself. A key element of their events is creating a safe space where building bonds and deepening experiences comes more easily and naturally. Recently, the collective has performed at music clubs and art galleries in Wrocław and across Poland, including one of Poland's largest electronic music festivals, Up To Date 2024.

LUZ_air is an initiative with a well-established position in the Wrocław music scene, founded by Kamil Winiarz and continued by Bartłomiej Patla and Michał Sember – music editors at Radio LUZ, as well as experienced selectors associated with Wrocław and national musical events such as Macondo, Uczulenie, Jesień na Księżu, and the Musica Privata festival. The collective hosts live events every other Monday at 8:00 PM, inviting DJs, selectors, vocalists, and music lovers to the Radio LUZ studio. Guests present original sets in a live performance format, with videos published on a dedicated YouTube channel, enabling their further promotion and preservation for a wider audience. LUZ_air is a professional platform promoting contemporary music, supporting both local artists and creative initiatives within the broadly defined field of sound culture.

„"Sounds of Grunwaldzki Square" is a project implemented by the Ładne Historie Foundation and co-financed by the Municipality of Wrocław (www.wroclaw.pl). The events are co-organized by Academic Radio LUZ and Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
