We are approaching the end of the first quarter of 2026 for the Local Activity Center at Grunwaldzki Square. It was a time full of positive energy, engagement, and neighborhood meetings that engaged residents in the life of the neighborhood.
Many wonderful initiatives, events, and activities were created thanks to the efforts of local leaders. This period also saw regular meetings of the "Nasz Grunwald" partnership, which strengthened shared thinking about the development of our area.
What happens at CAL Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA is an extraordinary process of building collaboration and neighborhood bonds. These activities foster the development of passions and interests, emphasizing the importance of quality of life and well-being. Daily communication, the exchange of inspiration, and collaborative planning of the Center's programs engage the community in a lasting way – both through the implementation of grassroots ideas and the growing volunteer movement.
Duty Center Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA
In the first quarter of 2026, the Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA Center was open five days a week:
- Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays: 10:00–16:00
- Wednesdays and Thursdays: 1:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
- and selected Saturdays: 12:00–16:00.
The animators' shifts provided a space for relaxed conversation, consultation on matters important to the Neighborhood, collaborative solutions to everyday challenges, the exchange of experiences, and co-creation of the Center's life program. It is in these daily meetings that neighborly cooperation and concern for the common good are most fully expressed.
One of the key activities at the Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA Center is creating opportunities for neighbors to participate in regular, recurring events, which are particularly appreciated by residents. To meet public expectations, we have launched new activities, inviting those interested to participate.

Natural Forms of Movement
At the Center, we have been running unique classes for years to support the vitality and fitness of seniors. Thursday afternoons and evenings are traditionally dedicated to training sessions led by Rafał Czapliński, who created a proprietary method combining elements of Pilates, yoga, and cardio. This diverse, friendly format makes the classes very popular, with seniors participating regularly.
In the first quarter of 2026 we launched two groups, which allowed us to respond even better to the needs of residents. So far, 23 training sessions, which invariably attract people who want to take care of their health, fitness and well-being.

Painting on the carpet
„"Painting on the Carpet" is a series of sessions during which participants can freely immerse themselves in the creative process. It's a space for intuitive, uninhibited painting—based on personal expression, amateur passion, and the joy of creation. Everyone works at their own pace, choosing the technique that suits them, although acrylic paints are the most popular.
The atmosphere of the meetings is conducive to experimentation, relaxation, and discovering one's own style. The finished paintings are then sent to our The Great Hall, where they delight the eye of visitors and show how diverse and beautiful the neighborhood's talents can be.
The group meets once a month, bringing together people who love painting on canvas – regardless of experience. Participants emphasize that these moments of creative freedom give them immense satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment.
Meeting dates: 10.01.2026, 28.02.2026, 15.03.2026

Folk Spider Art
Meetings dedicated to creation colorful, intricate folk spiders have become another of our Center's exciting offerings. It's a return to the beautiful Polish handicraft tradition, where straws, tissue paper, and natural materials are used to create light, three-dimensional ornaments full of symbolism and charm.
The group of enthusiasts – dynamic, growing in number and full of enthusiasm – has already learned the basic techniques of creating spiders: spindle (diamond) technique and crinoline technique. Each one opens the door to a different type of composition, and participants discover step by step how simple elements evolve into increasingly complex forms.
Creating spiders is a true "magic" craft using tissue paper and straws. It's incredibly satisfying – from choosing colors, through building the structure, to adding the finishing touches. It's also a time for concentration, joy in your own work, and the feeling that tradition can resonate beautifully in the modern age.
The workshops also provide a space for meetings: conversations, inspiration, meeting new people, and building neighborly bonds. The collaborative creation of spiders connects generations and allows for a rediscovery of the richness of Polish folk culture.
Meeting dates: 25.01.2026 , 01.03.2026

Take your neighbor to the museum!
Thursday series „"Take your neighbor to the museum!"” It grew out of a very human need: experiencing art together. Because while contact with culture is a natural desire for people of all ages, it's often difficult to take the first step—to overcome shyness, open the museum doors, enter a space sometimes perceived as "not for me." And once you enter... the magic begins. That subtle, intimate relationship between a person and a work of art.
Our Thursday excursions are about precisely this: being together, observing intently, conversation, and wonder. They're about discovering Wrocław through its museums and galleries. Each encounter is a different kind of art, a different sensibility, a different way of looking at the world—and always a tender encounter with another human being.
Sharing art becomes a beautiful ritual of neighborly closeness.
So far we have visited:
- 26/02/2026 – Ethnographic Museum
- 04/03/2026 – Museum of Architecture
- 12/03/2026 – Four Domes Pavilion (National Museum)
- 26/03/2026 – Ethnographic Museum

Neighborhood Breakfasts
With the arrival of spring, we started a series at the Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA Center Neighborhood Breakfasts – informal, collaborative, and warm events with one main goal: building relationships. It's a space where you can simply be together, talk, sometimes do something together, and then sit down at a table and feel that neighborhood is more than just an address.
The idea of Neighborhood Breakfasts comes from the belief that the simplest gestures create community: being together, eating together, laughing together, and talking together. There are no formalities or rigid agendas – instead, there is openness, spontaneity, and the joy of being part of the local community. Everyone can bring something, add something, contribute their own flavor, ideas, and energy.
The first meeting took place March 27, 2026 and immediately showed how beautifully this idea works in practice. Before the participants sat down at Neighborhood Table, full of homemade delicacies, joined forces in social work in Zielony Zakątek – a backyard green recreation zone at the Center.
There was spring cleaning: pruning, planting and sowing new species, refreshing the flowerbeds, painting the seats. The work went smoothly because it was carried by shared energy, conversation, and laughter. It was pure joy: cooperation and togetherness. And then… then came the celebration. Neighborhood Table It quickly filled with dishes brought by locals. Each bite had its own story, and sharing the shared treat was a beautiful way to end the day.
Neighborhood Meetings will accompany us throughout the season, reminding us that community is born from small gestures, and the most beautiful things happen when we do them together.

Neighborhood initiatives

The discussions took place in an atmosphere of curiosity, exchange of experiences, and mutual inspiration.
However, we did not limit ourselves to the walls of the Center. a walk around the estate allowed us to explore the context of life in Grunwaldzki Square: contemporary challenges, local social phenomena, and the historical and architectural layers that continue to shape the character of this part of the city. This allowed guests to see how the Center's ideas are taking root in the real fabric of the neighborhood.
