The fate of Grunwaldzki Square is full of surprises – it encompasses stories and urban legends related to the opposition, the formation of the academic community, the first post-war years of the university, and the opening of the "Goliath" trade tent and the market on Skłodowska-Curie Street. However, few people realize that most of these events would not have occurred if not for the mass demolition of residential and commercial buildings in the area of today's Grunwaldzki Axis during the Festung Breslau era. Join us for the planned activities and together we will discover the untold story of Grunwaldzki Square.

Today, the tragic history of the airstrip's construction is shrouded in mystery, and neighborly tales about the early years of the settlers' lives in Grunwald seem like fantasy and mythology. In the latest two-year project of the Ładne Historie Foundation, we will attempt to demystify the mystery of the military airfield that was supposed to help the German army defend the Breslau Fortress. "Plac Grunwaldzki – An Untold Story" is a project in which we invite everyone, regardless of age or background, connected to our beloved neighborhood to rediscover its history.

Project participants will take part in a series of creative workshops, guided walks, film screenings, and other team-building and evocative activities. As part of the project, we will conduct 30 interviews with witnesses to the history of Grunwald, and together with our neighbors, we will create the first Grunwald zine about the airport and a short film presenting the project.

The first activity, to which we will invite you in May, will be a call for neighborhood stories related to Grunwaldzki Square. As part of this project, over the next several months, we plan to collect 30 stories in the form of interviews with residents of Grunwald – those living here today, but also with those who spent their childhood or youth in the neighborhood, or who remember it from archival photographs or the stories of their grandparents. The interviews will be published on our website, and in 2025, they will become the framework for the first neighborhood zine, in which we plan to collect the most interesting stories and facts about the history of the Plac Grunwaldzki neighborhood.
