The Wrocław Cinema Cooperative is an extension of a film project aimed at local communities in the capital of Lower Silesia. The description sounds serious, but the event itself has great potential for relaxation and fun around the cinema.

It all began in 2018 in Ołbin, where the combined forces of the Yellow Parasol and Partners Association and the Wrocław Film Foundation began organizing film screenings in secret locations throughout the estate. The goal was to bring together younger residents of Ołbin and discover interesting corners of Wrocław's most populated area. The same principles, only on a scale of three estates (Nadodrze, Ołbin, and Grunwaldzki Square), guided us in 2022, when the event was renamed the Śródmieście Cinema Cooperative. Over the years, screenings have taken place in several private apartments, in the space of the Piastowski Brewery, which was being converted into apartments, in Tołpy Park, at the Rośliny flower shop, at the SKiB (SkiB), at the Klub pod Kolumnami (Pod Kolumnami Club), at Odra Centrum, and on the Grunwaldzki Campus. Among the films presented were "Paterson" and "Coffee and Cigarettes"; by Jim Jarmusch, "Badjao. Ghosts from the Sea" by Eliza Kubarska, "C'mon, C'mon" by Mike Mills, "Faces, Beaches" by Agnes Vadra and JR, and "Love Songs" by Tomasz Habowski.

The project has now entered its third phase, encompassing five different Wrocław neighborhoods that are engagingly working to improve their surroundings. We are expanding the project's understanding of neighborhoods by selecting neighborhoods scattered throughout the city (Ołbin, Plac Grunwaldzki, Przedmieście Oławskie, Szczepin, Tarnogaj), but also those where local animators have been working for years to integrate residents. Our presence at the cinema aims to further reinforce these efforts and showcase them to film buffs from across the city. Following this strategy, we have chosen the theme of "Little Homelands." This approach to the program will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the uniqueness of the neighborhoods they visit and create a welcoming space for Wrocław residents to engage with the art of film.
