The Wrocław Agglomeration Association, Fundacja Ładne Historie, and the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library in Wrocław, with the support of the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Center, invite you to participate in a unique charity initiative aimed at supporting the reconstruction of the Cultural and Library Center in Żelazno, Lower Silesia, which was destroyed by this year's flood.

Over 20 years. That's how long it took for many people to finally open the Żelazno Library and Cultural Center in 2021. A place where children could discover the world of literature and adults could develop their passions. All this in a peaceful, rural atmosphere, free from the hustle and bustle. For almost three years, the local community of Żelazno enjoyed a new meeting place and neighborhood bonding, and the library became the heart of cultural events.
In September 2024, these fulfilled dreams were swept away by a flood, leaving behind a tremendous loss, sadness, and broken hearts for the residents of Żelazno. At the initiative of the Wrocław Agglomeration Association, a fundraising campaign was created through which you can help rebuild this unique place – LINK TO THE DONATION. Urgent action is needed to protect the facility from winter weather and prevent further damage. The most urgent need is interior renovation and replacement of windows and doors, without which it will be impossible to begin rebuilding the book collection and the center's operational space.
Each of you can help rebuild the Center with the simple gesture of purchasing a book during the upcoming book fair. On November 9th, Branch 22 of the Wrocław Municipal Public Library (ul. Chociebuska 8-10) will host a book fair. All proceeds from the fair will go towards rebuilding the Center and securing this incredible space before the coming winter. You'll find a variety of titles there, from classics to contemporary literature and non-fiction. Everyone will find something for themselves, and the books will be very affordable!
On the same day, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., a meeting with Barbara Sadurska and Maciej Płaza will be held at the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Center.
This promises to be an extraordinary meeting! Joining you will be Barbara Sadurska, a talented writer and winner of the Witold Gombrowicz Literary Award, and the equally talented and award-winning Maciej Płaza, winner of the Angelus Central European Literature Award. We invite you to a conversation during which Barbara and Maciej will test each other's knowledge of each other's work. We assure you, this meeting will be a must-read.
