We have completed another year of cooperation with the Wrocław Social Cooperative, with which we will be organizing a series of events for residents of the Plac Grunwaldzki housing estate and other residents of Wrocław in 2022. We also work together as part of a local partnership.„Nasz Grunwald”, within which we regularly meet in an informal group of public institutions, non-governmental organizations, business sector entities and local leaders.

From the Estate Festival, through walks around the estate and popularization of crafts, to joint discovery of the secrets of vegetarian cuisine!

While 2022 proved to be a year of many challenges, we, as part of our local partnership, continued to actively engage with the Plac Grunwaldzki community. Over the past twelve months, we've met with you many times – both outdoors (during picnics, walks, and backyard workshops) and at the Center at Skłodowskiej-Curie 63a. Over 350 people have joined us throughout our year-long activities, and while we've been producing them, we've drank countless cups of coffee, and we've held many inspiring meetings, creating what we offer you! We'd like to thank you, above all, for this year spent together – the participants of each event!

All of the activities we prepared and implemented for you in 2022 together with the Wrocław Social Cooperative will continue this year! If you want to know the exact dates of individual events, and above all, you want to be the first to hear about them, sign up for our newsletter by clicking [THIS LINK].

A walk around the estate, or the fascinating Plac Grunwaldzki estate

The Outdoor Workshop is a series of guided tours that allow us to explore our neighborhood together. In 2022, this series—which has enjoyed continued popularity (over 100 people joined us on our walks!)—was divided into three sessions:

  • April walks with Łukasz Migniewicz (22/04 and 28/04);
  • June walks with Anka Bieliz (23/06 and 30/06);
  • autumn walks with Lech Moliński and Łukasz Migniewicz (15/09, 22/09, 29/09, 30/09).

Workshop series and joint thematic meetings

Spending time together and bonding can take many forms – neighbors used to meet on a bench in front of their homes, but today these gatherings are more thematic. Cooking definitely helps foster and deepen social relationships, but as it turns out, circle gatherings and collective crafting are an ideal opportunity to meet people from the immediate area! In 2022, a total of 75 people participated in workshops with us!

„"Pojedone. Neighborhood Culinary Meetings" is a series of practical workshops during which we explored plant-based cuisine together. These meetings were very well received by participants, and subsequent food surprises attracted more and more interested people, who, together with us, learned that vegetarian cuisine is not difficult and cooking together is pure pleasure! We divided the culinary workshops into several sections:

  • vegan workshop "Guide to Polish Herbs" with Magda Hajduk (6/07)
  • vegan workshops "ABC of fermentation" with Marek Sztark (13/07)
  • vegan workshops "No leftovers - zero waste kitchen" with Magda Hajduk (20/07)
  • Vegetarian workshops "Bread and legumes – everything can be made from beans" with Marcin Dutkowski and Natalia Juszkiewicz (27/07)
  • vegan workshops "Autumn on a vegan diet" with Dominika Józala (21/09)
  • Vegetarian workshops "Italian siesta" with Marcin Dutkowski and Natalia Juszkiewicz (28/09)
  • Vegetarian workshops "Lepimy! Vegetarian flour dishes" with Dominika Józala (12/10)
  • "King Potato" vegetarian workshops with belly-makers (26/10)

„"Return to Crafts" is another workshop series, this time dedicated primarily to the seniors of Grunwald. It's from them that we know that handicrafts and collaborative creative activities are something the neighborhood has long been missing! Under the guidance of Monika Splotka, we learned how to weave an old Slavic belt on a bardek, and at the neighborhood workshop, Zakwas Studio, we learned new clay modeling techniques.

Four meetings were held as part of the series:

  • workshops on weaving an old Slavic belt on a bardek with Monika "Splotka" (8.09 and 15.09)
  • ceramics workshops at Zakwas Studio (22/09 and 29/09)

Events organized as part of our collaboration with the Wrocław Social Cooperative also include activities aimed at new female neighbors who moved into the neighborhood following the outbreak of war in Ukraine. We co-organized "Spring Circles for Women" with Zahi, president of the Złoty Dom Foundation. What is a women's circle? It's a space where women can support and celebrate each other. A circle is a place where each participant has the opportunity to be heard without judgment or labeling, where they can empower their femininity in relationships with other women.

Two meetings were held as part of this series:

  • Women's Mandala (20/04)
  • Dynamic relaxation (27/04, 17:00-20:00)

Nothing brings people together like a shared celebration! Especially when it includes attractions for children and young people, as well as adults and seniors. The second edition of the "Plac Grunwaldzki Estate Celebration" proved to be a hit – May and June 2022 are definitely a time to celebrate the identity, culture, and local community of Wrocław's Grunwald district. Over 170 people celebrated with us, walking from bridge to bridge, learning about their history (led by Maciek Wlazło), devouring delicious (and legendary in the estate) cream rolls, learning the secrets of creative writing and clay modeling, and also allowing us to join in on a neighborhood picnic that took over the meadow on the University of Wrocław campus on June 4th.

Our cooperation with the Wrocław Social Cooperative in 2023 took place as part of a project co-financed by the Municipality of Wrocław (www.wroclaw.pl) of the project "CENTRE FOR NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS – SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE".
