Just like last year, as part of our participation in the Solidarity Corps, we announced a competition for volunteer initiatives – meaning if the volunteers associated with us had a great idea, we were able to help implement it.

One of the highlighted projects was the idea Kamila Habury-Marczuk (a teacher from Primary School No. 4 in Bielawa and a volunteer associated with our "Łączą nas gór" project), who proposed culinary workshops for students with disabilities. Thanks to the foundation's support, the idea was implemented, and the workshops became an opportunity to develop independence, cooperation and life competences participants.

The culinary workshops lasted two weeks and had a unique program based on world cuisines: Italian, Greek, Polish and Japanese. Students not only learned how to cook, but also gained knowledge about consciously using food, budgeting, setting the table, and proper etiquette during meals.

The classes were conducive to development independence, sensory-motor integration and teamwork. Participants practiced responsibility, communication, and relationship building, and cooking together proved to be an excellent opportunity for therapy and bonding.

The idea for the workshop was born while baking gingerbread last year. As the project initiator says, Kamila Habura-Marczuk: This brought so much joy to our students that we decided to expand this initiative. Thanks to the support of the Ładne Historie Foundation, it was possible to implement it. She was supported in carrying out the workshops by the following teachers: Małgorzata Subocz, Iwona Drozdowska and Anna Chęcińska-Witczak.

The workshops not only developed the participants' skills but also inspired staff and parents. The children learned the importance of being part of a team and working together to achieve a goal. The project demonstrated the value of teamwork and joint development efforts.

The local press also covered this initiative:

Thank you for the inspiration and congratulations on a great initiative!
