Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA Housing Estate

Why did we decide to operate in the Plac Grunwaldzki estate?

This estate is distinguished by its extraordinary history and timeless architecture – a palimpsest connecting Breslau and Wrocław – and is simultaneously an intercultural academic center, a business hub, and a development with enormous tourism potential. However, what matters most to us is the community living in Plac Grunwaldzki – without them, the development wouldn't be as vibrant as it is today!

Through the activities of the Ładne Historie Foundation and the grassroots initiative groups associated with it, as well as through cooperation with local leaders gathered within the Local Partnership "Nasz Grunwald", the Estate Council and the local community, we want to strengthen the estate – our goal is to integrate the local community around creating the image and developing the potential of Grunwaldzki Square.

Why REINVENT? Because Plac Grunwaldzki deserves to be viewed from a completely new perspective – to learn about its multigenerational and intercultural community, to nurture its public spaces and green spaces, to refresh our knowledge of its history and identity, and to create a diverse and open-ended offering of events that will remind the local community of the incredible cultural potential of this part of Wrocław.

As part of the Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA initiative, we are implementing the following projects: Local Activity Center, Children and Youth Development and Activity Center, Citizen Workshop – Green Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA and a number of other activities in the areas of animation, education, identity, culture and art.

We believe in creating synergy between the projects we implement – we operate in Grunwald's courtyards, providing entertainment and education, hosting neighborhood meetings and consultations, promoting urban participatory mechanisms, and strengthening a sense of responsibility for the neighborhood's public space. By creating "Nice Stories" for the neighborhood, we listen to the opinions of residents, respond to identified needs, support grassroots initiatives, and actively engage in the life of the local community. We work as a multigenerational group, and in our space and during our events, children, young people, and adults alike will find something to enjoy.

Can the Plac Grunwaldzki estate be returned to its residents? We are convinced that it can! However, for this to happen, a strong local community and a well-functioning local partnership are needed, based on local resources and a shared direction. Our activities also aim to support the process of building local identity by highlighting and emphasizing the significant cultural elements associated with the estate.
