For some time now, we've been bombarded with information about the changing climate and its impact on our daily lives. Increasingly, we're experiencing the effects of climate change firsthand – in the form of rapidly changing weather patterns, surprisingly high summer temperatures, and even rising food prices. However, not everyone understands the issues surrounding climate and ecology – many myths and misconceptions have arisen around these topics, the language of the scientific community is too technical for some, and most of us are too busy to thoroughly study complex reports and studies on the subject.
Do we, as a local community, have the tools to prepare for the long-term effects of climate change? Is all the information we read about it online credible? What can we do as neighbors to ensure our neighborhoods become more resilient to sudden weather changes, heatwaves, or even food shortages? If, like us, you're searching for answers to these questions and the changing climate is increasingly concerning, we invite you to the meeting "Climate ABC: What's the Deal with Climate Change?", led by Katarzyna Bochenek.

We will focus not only on climate change, its dynamics, and causes, but also on the role of modern humans in accelerating environmental changes. Together, we will examine human expansion on a macro (global) scale, but also on a micro scale – the takeover of increasingly larger urban areas for residential development. We will discuss how this impacts the habitats of species naturally occurring in cities. The current climate situation will serve as an introduction to considerations and planning for actions we can take to preserve/enhance our local natural environment.
What actions can an individual take to make changes in their immediate surroundings? We will discuss the importance of new plantings, the needs in this area, water savings, concrete, and, in general, how to build a plan to save the urban ecosystem using small steps.
The meeting will take place November 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the Local Activity Center Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA (ul. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie 63a, 1st floor in the courtyard). We invite people who have just begun to take an interest in the topic of climate change and ecology and therefore need to consolidate their knowledge at a basic level.
Participation is free, and the meeting will be conducted in Polish. Registration is available via the online form: https://bit.ly/ABCklimatuWARSZTAT.
