Our conversations with you have inspired us to ensure comfort and confidence in using new technologies. We invite all seniors to participate in a new series with trainer Konrad Kocjan, who will teach you how to safely navigate the internet and take advantage of all its features. The series of meetings will begin on May 16th.

We invite you to the Plac Grunwaldzki Local Activity Center for a series of classes aimed at late adulthood, during which we'll explore the opportunities and threats the internet presents. Under the guidance of Konrad Kocjan, we'll learn practical tools to support online safety and learn to recognize scams, fake news, and the dangers of social media addiction. We'll gain the practical skills needed to confidently and safely navigate the online world!

 

This year we are planning several series of classes dedicated to seniors, so if you know older people who need this type of support or want to take part in classes that support their memory and daily functioning, please write (placgrunwaldzki@ladnehistorie.pl) or call us.

Class schedule:

  • May 16, 2024, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Introduction to media education and online safety - we will examine our online activity and learn about tools that support online safety.

 

  • May 23, 2024, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM: A grandson trick? More! About scams, fishing, and other online fraud methods. We'll experience the lives of scammers to better understand their methods. We'll practice effective strategies for spotting and avoiding scams.

 

  • June 6, 2024, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM: A suspicious text message from your bank? A held-up shipment that needs to be paid for? Double-check before you act. We'll uncover the secrets of fraud, learning to distinguish between safe and suspicious messages. We'll learn strategies for safely using banking apps, online accounts, and payment cards.

 

  • June 13, 2024, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Social media – a blessing or a curse of our times? We'll explore the pros and cons of social media. We'll learn about the risks of online addiction and discover what's free online and what you have to pay for.

 

  • June 20, 2024, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Online shopping? Don't buy a pig in a poke! Where and how to shop safely online. Fake news - how to distinguish true information from false.

 

  • June 27, 2024, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Assertiveness online and beyond... We're perfecting the art of polite communication with a telemarketer, learning how to politely decline.

 

Meetings will be held every Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the headquarters in the Local Activity Center Plac Grunwaldzki OD NOWA (in the courtyard at ul. Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej 63a, 1st floor).

About the presenter:

Konrad Kocjan He is currently undergoing therapeutic training in the integrative approach at the Wrocław Institute of Psychotherapy. He is completing his psychology studies with a clinical specialization at SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He has participated in numerous training courses in psychology and psychological support. He has completed a course in Cognitive Training for Seniors. He is a Social Skills Trainer. In his work, he is interested in strengthening strengths and motivation, which is strongly linked to positive psychology. Needless to say, he strives to see the glass half full. He graduated in sociology and image communication from the University of Wrocław. He dislikes boredom, but enjoys learning new things, especially while working with others. In his free time, he listens to vinyl and cooks. He is a regular attendee of Magda Umer concerts and sung poetry. He is the proud owner of two dogs – Tymek and Franek.
