A year has passed since we launched the "Plac Grunwaldzki – An Untold Story" project, co-financed by the EVZ Foundation. We've had many moving meetings and conversations with Wrocław residents, film screenings and discussions about the Polish-German history of our city, as well as walks and workshops during which we learned about and discussed the impact of events during the Siege of Wrocław on life today in Grunwaldzki Square.
Our goals in this two-year process are simple: we want to popularize knowledge about the shared history of Breslau and Wrocław, engage the local community in a discussion about the Polish-German identity of Grunwald, encourage shared reflection in the context of contemporary social challenges resulting from armed conflicts in Europe, and also record oral histories and disseminate the memories of people who were or are connected with this part of Wrocław.

The project involves a diverse group of people – seniors from the estate, adults and their children, and students. Each group perceives the history of the estate differently, so we engage each group with different activities. We share memories with the elderly and record conversations with them, engage adults in collaborative creative activities and neighborhood hikes, and for younger people, we organize events such as film screenings, which serve as a pretext for in-depth discussions about the history of Wrocław. We also implement the project with accessibility in mind for people of Ukrainian descent – we translate all our materials for them, and we invite them to learn about the fate of Grunwald. Whether you're familiar with the history of Kaiserstrasse or not, you'll find something for yourself.
So far, the project has included walks, creative workshops, film screenings, a series of interviews with residents, and several columns on the history of Grunwaldzki Square. Another year is ahead of us – in 2024, we plan to conduct walks, meet for workshops, collaborate with the local community, and create a publication and a film series featuring their memories.

Підсумки першого року діяльності навколо летовища на Kaiserstrasse [kayzerstrasse]
Минув рік відтоді, як ми розпочали діяльність в рамках проекту "Plac Grunwaldzki - the untold story" finance EVZ fund. За цей час відбулося багато зворушливих зустрічей та дискусій з мешканцями Вроцлава, показів фільмів та дискусій про German-Polish history of our country, and so on master-class, під час яких ми досліджували та обговорювали з вами вплив подій під час облоги Вроцлава на сьогоднішнє життя на Грунвальдській площі [Plac Grunwaldzki].
